How to Apply

Step 1:

Fill out the application form (download here).

Step 2:

Include two reference letters from people familiar with your work and/or the services you provide to the community.

Step 3:

Include project overview, maximum 100 words, answering the following questions and providing any other information you feel would be helpful:

  1. Describe your idea in one overview sentence, then expand in detail. What is it and how will it work?
  2. How will it benefit kids? How many kids? In what neighbourhoods?
  3. What is your timeframe for implementation of the project?
  4. Is a project/service like this already being offered in our area?
  5. Why should we choose YOUR application to be one of our finalists?

Step 4:

Please provide a project budget in sufficient detail for us to evaluate how you will use the money. Please use the attached form, or a similar format, to summarize your project budget. (download here)

Step5:

If desired, include photos, drawings and/or a video (maximum three minutes) - from kids or grownups.

Step 6:

Send your package by October 20th to:

It was a privilege to be chosen recipients of the SpecKids Change Challenge. This funding enabled Food4Kids to achieve several milestones, including extending our reach to include 75 additional children, at both Hess St and St David elementary schools. These wonderful children now receive healthy food packages each and every week filled with fruit, vegetables, soups, stews and grains. They say it takes a village to raise a child. We are so grateful to SpecKids Unlimited and the Hamilton Spectator readership for your vote of confidence in Food4Kids and helping to ensure that no child in our community will have to face another weekend, wondering how they will be fed.
